Final Excel Class!

Well, the day finally arrived...May 26, 2007 was the final class for the in depth Fundamentally, Excel 2003 advanced classes! It's been a lot of fun for me and hopefully for all the students. Here's a picture of the veteran survivors of this extensive course -- 84 hours of solid Microsoft Excel for the 2003 version:

And here's Dorothy Cox, winner of the last 1 gigabyte flash drive. Congratulations Ms. Cox!

A Note About My Links

I will be adding links to other blogs & websites from time to time. For example, to the left side of the blog, you will see links to other blogs of mine, including one for Excel Tips, the other for Word Tips. In addition, I have posted a link to several others including Leo Notenboom's absolutely GREAT website, one that deals in answering specific computer related questions. I really recommend going to his site. While you're at it, sign up to receive his free email newsletter. I have! That's Leo Notenboom, at Ask-Leo.com

Also, I just decided it would be really great to link to blogs belonging to friends or students. I'll start doing that as soon as I start getting friends. Heh heh...

Seriously, though, I'll post a link to your blog here, and you can post a link to my blog on yours. Stipulations? Well, I sure won't post links to offensive sites. Mind you, I don't mean a site that I disagree with philosophically or politically. I mean offensive sites, like those featuring porn, racism, or in general sites that demean others. Fair enough?

Welcome To El Besino's Blog

El Besino. Or, more properly, El Vecino means "the neighbor".

I've recently had two websites, and just today, I closed the last one down. Not because of any fault of the web hosting outfits, but because currently creating a website online is too clunky and wastes huge amounts of time. Until I learn FrontPage or some other website design software, I'm going to have to just stick to blogs. Or hire someone to design a website for me and upload it.

So, my apologies to many, many people, friends and neighbors alike, especially my students at the Holly Springs Regional Tech Center. I hope to include all the same information here, or as much as possible, that was on the latest website. There's a lot...but I'm going to stick with computer-related information that is applicable to, first, anyone with an interest in the courses I teach, and second, to the students who take these courses at the RTC.

Any other related items will be posted by linking to other blogs or other websites.

Alright, so first off, this past Saturday, January 27, 2007, the first group taking the Advanced Excel 2003 class received their certificates. We will begin the same course over again, beginning February 3, which will go through the end of May, for a total of 16 more weeks.

The class is entitled "Fundamentally, Excel 2003 - The Easy Way!" and provides a somewhat different approach to course instructions of similar kind, which I'll get into a little later. For now, here is a picture of this first class:

From left to right: Ernest Jones, Vera Walker, Lois Bryan, Opherine Howell, Debra Guy, and Dorothy Cox.

This class is at no cost to the students--it's paid for with a grant. However, I have provided some gifts at my own expense--some 1 GB flash drives. The first winner was Ernest Jones, shown below.

This blog site will have several features to it. First, it will serve as an information source for classes being held at the RTC. Second, it will provide links to other places, such as the Holly Springs Home Page so that anyone can search for information pertaining to their own needs, as this blog only deals with information pertaining to the classes I teach. Third, I will post tips pertaining to MS Word and Excel (primarily, although it wouldn't be a surprise if I posted tips in other computer related areas, as well as links to other, non-related blogs or websites).

Look to the links displayed at left which will lead you to each posting made here. Click on that post link and it will take you to that post, which will save you from scrolling endlessly. Thanks, and I hope you enjoy these postings!
